A helpful tool for identifying abilities and connecting them to careers.
Ability Explorer, Third Edition
By Joan C. Harrington, Thomas F. Harrington, Ph.D., and Janet E. Wall, Ed.D.
This assessment ranks a person’s strengths in the 12 abilities that are important in today’s workplace, raises self-awareness, and creates a foundation for informed career and educational planning.
Individuals are asked to read 120 statements and then indicate how good they are or would be at doing the activity that is described. Individuals then progress through steps that show the activities they are best at. Next, they are presented with career choices that match these abilities.
Ability Explorer measures more abilities than traditional aptitude tests, including key soft skills. It now covers these 12 abilities: Artistic, Clerical, Interpersonal, Language, Leadership/Persuasive, Manual/Technical, Musical/Dramatic, Numerical/Mathematical, Organizational, Scientific, Social, and Spatial.
This new edition has been substantially revised to be more user-friendly and more directly targeted toward career exploration and planning.
